We’re absolutely thrilled to announce our next big animation project: FAIRYHEART (Tündér Lala) produced by Mythberg Film has officially received support from Eurimages!
A collaboration spanning Hungary, Canada, and Germany, FAIRYHEART was the only animated project to secure funding in this round. This magical tale is based on the beloved book Tündér Lala by Hungarian literary legend Magda Szabó. The screenplay, brought to life by Anita Doron and Attila Gigor, will be directed by Doron – whose remarkable work includes the Oscar®-nominated animation The Breadwinner and critically acclaimed live-action films like The Lesser Blessed.
The story follows Lala, the brave young prince of the enchanted kingdom of Tundarra, as he faces the sinister dark wizard Aterpater to save his home—and all of humanity. Alongside him are Bea, a courageous human girl with a tender heart, and Gigi, a snarky magical capybara unicorn who always speaks its mind.
Production kicks off in early 2025, with a powerhouse team of producers and support from the Hungarian National Film Institute, Telefilm Canada, Creative Europe, Ontario Creates, and MDM. Distribution partners include Vortex Media (Canada) and Little Dream Pictures (Germany).
FAIRYHEART is being produced by Jozsef Berger and Krisztina Endrenyi @Mythberg Films and Reka Temple @Cinemon Entertainment, Paul Lenart @Storyteller Pictures, and Iouri Stepanov and Courtney Wolfson @Lakeside Animation, as well as Michael Luda @Traumhaus Studios.
