CEE Animation Workshop Week – Budapest
What does a workshop like this bring to participating projects – and why is it important for Budapest to host it?
The Budapest module of the CEE Animation Workshop was much more than just another industry event: it brought together months of collaborative work, workshops, an international Industry Day featuring both international and Hungarian animation professionals, and insightful masterclasses.
A huge amount of professional exchange is concentrated into a single week. One of the programme’s greatest strengths is that it connects the Central and Eastern European animation community with the international industry.
In recent years, Réka Temple, producer at Cinemon Entertainment, has contributed to the CEE Animation Workshop as an expert. For this year’s Budapest module, she also took an active role in organising the event, working alongside a Hungarian and international team to bring this intensive professional programme to life.
In the Budapest module, participants went beyond the workshop setting and presented their projects in front of a real industry audience.
“There is a big difference between simply rehearsing a pitch and having to deliver it in front of a real professional audience. The preparation over several months culminated in presentations that were not only about showcasing the projects, but also led to concrete professional connections and potential collaborations.
That is precisely one of the most important goals of the workshop: to build bridges between producers, directors, countries and cultures,” - added Réka Temple.
